To make going to the dentist decidedly more zen, the office of Dr. Brawn draws inspiration from Japanese architecture. To complement the building’s 1912 heritage elements, Baltic birch is brought in as large format boxes—reminiscent of Donald Judd’s work—to house x-ray machines and supplies. The space is lit from the floor up to play up the steel structural columns, and a custom 26-foot birch light provides an ambient glow above the multiuse long table.
